Meta Tags: Basically Useless
Apparently Google has more or less abandoned the analysis of keyword meta tags. Which isn’t really surprising, since it’s incredibly easy to abuse them. Anyway, if you’ve still been using them, congratulations! Your life just got a little easier.

I…I don’t even know. My bosses do nothing but ask me how we can be using meta tags to improve our site – I don’t even know what to say. ARGH.

Well, it’s not that meta tags are all useless, just that *keyword* meta tags are ignored by search engines. If you want to improve search engine rankings, the stuff in your title and h1 tags is more important. Not to mention having things link to you. Not incestuous links, though.
